COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: OGUN TO BEGIN STIMULUS PACKAGE DISTRIBUTION, SATURDAY
The Ogun State Government has announced that it would begin distribution of the stimulus package intended to cushion the economic effects of the FG-directed lockdown on the citizenry, on Saturday, 4th April.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Wednesday night, met with all 20 Local Government Transition Chairmen to finalise details of the distribution.
All Transition Chairmen will on Thursday organise sensitisation programmes for people within their LGAs, where they will enlighten the people, as the State Government has so far done, on the symptoms and preventive measures of the Coronavirus. The Chairmen will also ensure that everyone is aware about the pattern of distribution, so that all households will be reached effectively.
The stimulus package distribution is set to reach 500,000 homes with an average of 4 persons per household. The bags to be distributed contain food items and hand sanitizers which, if used judiciously, will sustain each household for the 14-day pilot stage of the lockdown.
The State Government advised everyone to comply with the stay-at-home directive which takes effect from 11pm on Friday, 3rd April.
This, the Governor said, will further ensure compliance with the social distancing advisory, as the bags will not be distributed at any gathering but at individual homes.
He emphasised that everyone should continue to be guided as they go about their activities before the distribution commences.
He further emphasised that the distribution will not be influenced by regional or political affiliations, as all distributing officers have been duly trained and instructed.
