TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL VACCINATION
1.Do not add vaccine to chlorinated water (do not use treated water to vaccinate)
2. Make sure the area where you make up the vaccine is clean
3.Dispose vials properly putting the mind in disinfectant or kerosene
4.Vaccine is not meant to stay after 60mins after serving, so withdraw water from birds for 1-2hours before serving so that they can finish it before one hour (you can give feed first to make them thirsty)
5.Give 10% of their daily water consumption upon serving
6. Withdraw antibiotics 24hrs and after vaccination
7.Always store vaccine in cooler/food flask in cool dry place
8.Give vaccine very early in the morning so that you don't denature vaccines
9.Give antistress after serving vaccine to birds
10. Do not pour vaccine water remnant or water used for rinsing drinkers around your pen.(Be ready to count your losses if you do so)
11.Do not contaminate the vaccine with disinfectants
12.Do not withdraw the water for too long (1-2hours is enough)
13.Make sure the birds all have vaccine added water at the same time (starving the before water vaccination is very effective)
Vaccines by injection
The most common times to give a vaccine by injection is at day old for Mareks disease or at point of lay to ensure a good level of protection during lay against infectious Bronchitis, Newcastle
Disease, Egg Drop Syndrome and possibly Mycoplasma
gallisepticum (CRD).
Ensure you know how to vaccinate birds by injection before you carry on with it and there are many problems and possible welfare tissues if the technique, which is not difficult,is not carried out
correctly.(You may end up wiping most of your birds out injection)
Note:You establish vaccination schedule base on local and
regional challenges ascertained by health/medical survey and
laboratory analysis.
I want to say this is what works for my farm,
it may be the same as your sorvary. Those with asterisksisa
must do vaccination whereas those without it may ignore(but its always recommended to prevent it)
